Gifts from Donor-Advised Funds

The AHRC New York City Foundation welcomes grants from all donor-advised funds.  If you have a Fidelity Charitable, Schwab Charitable or BNY Mellon donor-advised fund, you may recommend a grant online here.

If you have a donor-advised fund at a different sponsoring organization, please contact the organization to recommend your grant.

What is a donor-advised fund and how does it work?

A donor-advised fund is an account at a public charity that an individual uses to support his or her philanthropic interests.  Examples of public charities that sponsor donor-advised funds include Fidelity Charitable and Schwab Charitable.

A donor establishes an account by making an irrevocable gift.  The donor is entitled to an immediate charitable tax deduction.  He or she may then advise the sponsoring organization on investment strategy for the account and recommend that grants be made from the account to qualified charities such as the AHRC New York City Foundation.
