Award recipients are valued and exceptional AHRC NYC staff members who have demonstrated the core attributes that Katerina so fervently espoused, and will continue to promote her groundbreaking work in the months and years to come.

Through her storytelling and public speaking, Janice Bartley taught us that advocacy isn’t a job—it’s a way of living unflinchingly in the truth that everyone deserves a seat at the table. This fund will enable Self-Advocates to enhance their skills in public speaking and continue to make the world a better place for everyone.

he Chris Treiber Memorial Fund for Family Advocacy was established in tribute to the life and legacy of Chris Treiber, AHRC NYC’s first Vice President of Advocacy. The Fund will help parents and siblings of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities attend educational, leadership-development, and advocacy events, meetings, and conferences. By helping remove financial barriers to participation, the Fund will give families greater opportunities to make their voices heard and strengthen their advocacy skills.
